About Title 1

What is Title 1?  It is a remedial reading and math program that is federally funded.  Services at Blessed Sacrament School are provided by the Erie City School District.

How are students identified?  The selection of Title 1 students is a team decision.  It is based on subjective and objective criteria depending on the given grade level.  More than one criterion is used to determine eligibility.

What is a Title 1 session?  It is instruction given to students in a small group setting.  The program allows students to receive tutoring, where we encourage them to ask questions and work through any difficulties they may be having.  Lessons are closely planned with their classroom teachers to ensure consistency.
